Whereas the division of Berlin shaped the cityscape up until 1989, the metropolis metamorphosed in the following years into Europe’s biggest building site. The major projects are now more or less finished, and the Potsdamer Platz and newly built government district form an exciting contrast to the Wilhelminian architecture of Charlottenburg and Kreuzberg. Although the list of Berlin’s monuments and sights may be arbitrarily expanded, the old and new capital has much more to offer: lifestyle, parks, nightlife, cafés and restaurants as well as architecture and culture of this equally manifold and exciting European metropolis are displayed on approx. 800 pages.
